About Fit4You

Sport and exercise have played a huge role in my life to date. I have found the environment to be both positive and constructive. Currently I am involved with my local football club, Dunree FC playing with the senior team and coaching at underage level. In the past I have played for local GAA clubs, at home and in England. .Currently, I provide fitness classes for both adults and children, Personal Training (PT) and have just recently opened my own gym. Where I see my strengths is working with children and teenagers and have enjoyed my times working within pre-school and primary school settings around the county. My ultimate goal is to impress upon children the importance of physical activity in their daily lives.

During my time on the BSC Honours Sports Science course in Loughborough University, I conducted research on the importance of positive psychology and how it enhances performance. It was at this time I began forming personal opinions on coaching, the style of coach I wanted to become and how I would maintain engagement across all ages and abilities during sports and exercise instruction.

I have also had the opportunity to work with Leicester City Football Club during their Promotion Season of 2013-2014. This experience gave me a greater insight into the benefits of data analysis on performance. Having observed these experienced coaches, I have learned strategies and methods of coaching that would inspire the participants rather than putting pressure on them to succeed.

I always enjoy my time teaching PE in schools and pre-schools but would have a greater interest in tracking performance within a positive learning environment, getting the children moving and inspiring them to think about the exercise and sport they are engaging in which is what my Assessment Programme is all about.
